FAITHFULLY WAITING FOR YOU part 3

Patience pays!

Almost 2 hours (10:00a.m) I was there, finally, Alhamdulillah, I shot this "Sun".
It wasn't alone... IT came with LOVE...
If you notice the "arrow" just above the left tip of the sun, pointing to it ...
AS though telling me... "here you are"
and the "heart" on the right was indeed the most wonderful consolation for two hours
hoping, waiting, persevering in order to witness
the greatness of Allah's gift that shines and lights up this universe.

AS I felt immensely satisfied... the "heart" disperse and the image looks calm...
perhaps as calm as my humble heart was

AND I turned away to take my last shot before leaving the "wonderful" site...
I had late breakfast that morning but it was worth the while.

The night drive with two hours in the almost three kilometers dreadful jam,
two nights before, having to wait for two hours that morning to see the sun taking a peep at me, seeing these "paintings" with two "cupid signs" of an arrow and a heart....
sent my mind wild with imaginations and guesses of which I would not get any answers because they are all Allah's Will, Gifts and Blessings.

Strange though.....>>>>> the "arrow" never crossed that "heart"...
BUT there's "light" shining in between them....and reflected on the sea.
How wonderful

WOW! No words could actually describe how I am feeling as these words are typed at this hour of the Malaysian morning 01:18:a.m.

FAITHFULLY WAITING FOR YOU part 2

I have not given up hope although it was already an hour past....
Samsung phone cam did all these jobs so I am able to share these wonderful (if you could call it that) views.

FAITHFULLY WAITING FOR YOU part 1

The sky, the cloud, the sea and the land... but where is the sun?
My phone cam failed to detect it as it was hiding behind this shapely thick cloud... (but of course!).
I was facing the South China Sea.
This was 8:00 a.m at Batu Buruk Beach in Kuala Terengganu one early February 2010.

Look at those waves... the sound just sent my imagination wild... What had happened if tsunami were to strike??? From where I stood, to a few kilometers away inland... would simply be "swallowed" ...
I was grateful to Allah it did not occur just then and hopefully would never ever to this land. I had recalled the tsunami in Acheh clearly in my mind's eye. Subhanallah, Allah wants to display His greatness!

When He says
 "BE" and it will happen
 http://noblequran.com/translation/surah36.html
 82. Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" and it is!
No technologies ever invented would be able to stop, delay or protect anything in this universe from the "order" of Allah.
Across the horizon, far far away, my cam detected a tiny object
which was possibly be a fishing boat

Interesting feature caught. I noticed a stretch of reclaimed land on my far left. Perhaps development would take place in years to come? Somehow the cloud was warning me of a possible heavy downpour. So rtl, go home!

Beautiful cloud formation with some lights shed upwards and some rays focusing the sea. Oh my! Subhanallah! I wish I could paint this.

More pictures coming ...

BRAVE THE NIGHT

We did not plan.

It was spontaneity. Three ladies braved the night, took  the road and was severely greeted with massive jam for being so naive. Me and TP and Fari decided to travel East one Friday night in early February 2010. We started from Plaza Damas in Damansara around 11.30pm in two separate cars. The children were on their own.

My small Hyundai Accent  was not fit for 3 long-legged-ladies.  But somehow, we managed with the three of us, changing guards at the wheels... and exchange in betweens to sit at the back.  It was like traveling on a train.  I could lie on the back seat with a pillow and comfortable chatting away.

AS we  exited to the left turning, I noticed the children (TP's) went on the opposite direction.  Apparently then went for some petrol and wisely took the new highway named DUKE (Damansara Ulu Klang Expressway).

"OPs! I have just missed the DUKE highway!!!!!".   Said I... feeling jolted inside.

I was in the middle lane, so I couldn't easily ease to the left lane as soon as I had spotted the sign board showing DUKE.  As I sped away, I have lost sense of the events in Kuala Lumpur!  Who would fancy getting stuck right smack in the motionless traffic at that hour??  Who could imagine sitting idly in the car?  All we could afford was just to turn left, right, left and right, up to the sky and wondering what had happened? That took us two solid hours to get through what looked like less than three kilometers of heavily parked vehicles near Batu Caves. Goodness ME!

"Cik Na, what's happening here?"

... I dialed an ex-classmates number right at 12 midnight.  She lived just a few kilometers away from where we were idling.

"It's Taipusam celebration.  The Hindus are gathering in the Batu  Caves.  Come and sleep in my house and continue your journey tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!!".

Happily she invited us...  Thanks for her sincere invite.  She reminded me not to miss the DUKE highway on our way into the City Center when we return from this night journey on Monday... It would be a public holiday and the Hindus would still be there probably clearing or walking into the City Center.  Appreciated the reminder greatly  but  we graciously declined her offer of a night at her place.  We were just so determined to leave town that night.

Anyway, Farie asked it I could maneuver and turn left.  I was poor with directions although I live in the city.  I called another number.  It was of a young relative living in the same area.

"Just remain there patiently, like it or not!  The left takes you to Kepong and God knows what the traffic is like at this hour with all the Hindus out and about to reach Batu Caves for their great festival"...

So, we remained patiently... Deep down I could not complain more as I was in the mid lane just then.  It was after 1:00a.m that the traffic snailed a little.  It was my greatest achievement to ease my car from the slope.  Slowly, carefully I managed to get into the direction we wanted to be.  Cars, Police Traffic, drivers and heavy vehicles were tested.  Who could go first?  No one was injured, scratched or offended.  But it was bizarre. Cars were so close  but barely touching one another.  Signal lights were vigorously flashing from all angels.  It was a rare dare devil for me too.  BUT I successfully managed to hit the highway at 1:30a.m.  Alhamdulillah.  Great!

The children?  Where could they be?  A couple of phone calls kept us confident and as expected, that they were already two hours away from us and already in the State of Pahang.  The wise kids took the DUKE.  I sped at slightly above 140 when the roads were straight and went as low as 80 at severe bends along the dangerous Karak Highway.  At 4:00a.m we reached Temerloh where the children were waiting and we each had hot coffee. The children left earlier.  We exchanged driver.  This time TP took the wheel.  That was a challenging drive for her since being absent from the road for three years.  She did well though.

When we reached our home state,  in some parts, the roads were so bad that she had to drive so slow.  Holes and dangerous bends greeted us.  Some parts shown some progress while a few remained as before.  New buildings were up.  Hyper markets were built.  Wider town roads well flooded with lights seemed new.

By 7:00a.m we were already in familiar sites, our hometown, Kuala Trengganu.  We drove round looking for Nasi Dagang but later comfortable settled with Nasi Kerabu at one famous food stall.  While having breakfast we felt "floating" and "light" in our bodies and heads... obviously it was the sleepless night that we had encountered.  But it was enjoyable despite the hassle being caught up in that massive crazy traffic jam in Kuala Lumpur.

By 8:30am, after sending them to their home, I found my way to my sister's house.  After a nice shower I had disappeared into one of her many bedrooms and was deeply immersed in my dream until late evening...  that was supposedly to replace whole night sleep...  I was no where to be heard... And I did not have any naps in the day before we started our journey.  But we did it!

DEVASTATION

Port-au-Prince, Haiti (CNN) -- Impassable roads, a bottleneck at the damaged airport, an unreachable dock and not enough equipment to unload supplies kept much of the world's help Friday from desperate Haitians.

With thousands of people trapped under the rubble since Tuesday's 7.0-magnitude earthquake, every minute mattered. Officials said the window of opportunity to save many lives was closing.

The arrival of simple, small things, such as pressure dressings to treat open wounds and antibiotics for infections, could make a tremendous difference.

"With medicine, we are not talking about weeks and months down the line -- this is minutes and hours in terms of what is necessary," said Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN chief medical correspondent in Port-au-Prince.

Dave Toycen, a relief worker with the aid agency World Vision, said that even when roads became passable, "There was a milelong line to get gasoline. We are short the basics."

Many countries and a long list of relief agencies have sent help to the region. Even with all the logistical struggles, more aid was arriving Friday.

Hundreds more U.S. military personnel were due, among the thousands the nation is sending. The USS Carl Vinson was expected off the coast Friday, carrying 19 heavy-lift helicopters that could bring relief supplies to the devastated nation.

A hospital ship, the USNS Comfort, is due to deploy on the weekend.

Around the world, people have been opening their wallets, contributing millions to Haiti relief efforts.

Former President Clinton, the U.S. envoy to Haiti, called for more donations during a CNN interview Friday.

"The most immediate thing now is for people even to give small amounts of money, but we need large numbers of people giving small amounts of money so we can get food, water, medical supplies and shelter there," Clinton told "American Morning."

"The Red Cross has its operation back up and going; the U.N. is beginning to work," Clinton said. His agency, the Clinton Foundation, will ship more water and food Friday, he said.

Clinton is working together with former President George H.W. Bush.

"Haiti still can resume its path of modernization for the first time in my lifetime," Clinton said. "But we've got to get them through this awful, awful period first."

The Obama administration is deflecting criticism that it should have done more for Haiti more quickly. The retired general who took charge of relief efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina said Thursday the U.S. military should have arrived in earthquake-devastated Haiti 24 hours sooner.

"I thought the U.S. military could have been there a day earlier," said Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, a CNN contributor.

Obama, speaking at the House Democratic Caucus Retreat later Thursday, acknowledged the scrutiny focused on the U.S. response.

"This is a time when the world looks to us and they say -- given our capacity, given our unique capacity to project power around the world -- that we have to project that not just for our own interests but for the interests of the world as a whole," Obama said.

"And my national security team understands that I will not put up with any excuses for us not doing the very best in this time of tragedy."

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said he believes the president is pleased with the pace of U.S. response.

U.S. airlines, including American, Delta, JetBlue and United, were helping provide assistance to the country in the form of free miles for its program members and seats for aid organizations.

American was operating humanitarian flights, with three American Eagle aircraft flying 30,000 pounds of supplies into Haiti. Three more such flights were planned Friday. American also is partnering with the American Red Cross by offering one-time awards of 250 or 500 bonus miles for donations.

British Airways offered aid agencies a relief aircraft to fly more emergency supplies and equipment. The plane that can hold 50 tons of supplies will be ready to fly to Haiti on Saturday, the airline said in a statement. A volunteer British Airways crew will man the plane, and the company also pledged close to $900,000 in fuel and money for supplies.

Belize, Brazil, China, Chile, Spain, Canada, Israel, Iceland, Ireland, the United States and Morocco were among the many countries offering aid. The United Kingdom announced it would provide $10 million for relief efforts.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said Thursday the quake's aftermath represented "a major humanitarian disaster."

He said the United Nations on Friday will issue a "flash appeal," which the world body defines as a tool for structuring a coordinated humanitarian response for the first three to six months of an emergency.

Many global agencies also were assisting. The World Bank pledged $100 million in emergency funds. The World Food Program said it had a six-month plan to get food to 2 million people in Haiti.
